Introduction: Napolean Dynamite/ 'Toby' is a lovely, compact 15.2hh, 8yo Warmblood gelding with a genuine jump, excellent foundation and the breeding and talent to excel. By Regardez Moi out of a Richmeed Medallion mare, with Salute as his grand-sire, Toby is a quality, athletic type with good breeding, a bold jump and a practical outlook. He would appeal to a capable young rider or adult amateur wanting a fun, competitive horse to continue developing for the showjumping ring.
Education, skills and experience: Toby has competed to 90cm showjumping and 80cm eventing. He has schooled cross-country to 95cm and showjumping to 1.00m.
Toby is currently training Novice on the flat, and his dressage continues to improve with consistent, correct work. He has been professionally started and ridden under regular guidance, giving him a solid foundation for his next rider to build on.
Over fences, Toby is bold, careful and unfazed by fill. He is happy to jump from a variety of distances and is tolerant of rider mistakes, making him a particularly appealing option for a rider wanting a genuine, trainable showjumping prospect.
Outside the arena, he trail rides, has been to the beach, and is comfortable around busy roads, farm machinery, livestock and dogs.
General demeanour under saddle: Toby is forward but not sharp, and he thrives with clear, confident riding and good leadership.
Toby is a rewarding horse to ride and thrives when given a job to do, particularly when jumping. On the flat, he can be a little fussy in the contact, so he is best suited to a rider who can produce a consistent, elastic connection and continue developing the quality of his flatwork.
With regular work and correct riding, Toby offers plenty of appeal as an athletic, willing horse with a good attitude to jumping and the scope to keep progressing.
Current workload / fitness: Toby has recently come back into full work after a period of inconsistency while his owner completed vet school and an internship. As such, he is not currently competing.
Handling: On the ground, Toby is easy and straightforward. He is simple to catch, leads and ties quietly, self-loads and travels well, stands quietly when travelling, is good to wash and for the vet, and is reliable for the farrier.
He is fine to paddock in a herd, in a paddock on his own, or kept completely on his own. He may benefit from a lunge after a spell.
Feeding and management: Toby is a great doer. He is currently maintained on hay with a simple hard feed when in full work. He is a very mild windsucker, easily managed with a collar or electric fencing. He has been kept barefoot since being broken in and is described as having great feet.
Medical history: Toby has mild itch, which - if in a high risk area - is well managed by washing rugs with insecticide and using hooded rugs. He is up to date with vaccination and dental. Vet checks are welcome at buyer's expense.
Rider Suitability: Toby is best suited to a capable, confident rider — a switched-on young rider or adult amateur who enjoys the showjumping ring and can continue producing him with consistent, correct flatwork.
For the right rider, Toby offers a very genuine proposition: a compact, athletic, well-bred gelding with a good jump, sensible handling and clear showjumping appeal.
Reason for sale: Toby's owner is a young vet and she does not have the time to give him the consistent work that he enjoys and deserves.
