Introduction: A quality, proven 16hh Warmblood X gelding with genuine eventing experience to 2*, Finch Farm Corbin (“Sid”) presents as an educated, scopey and well-established performance horse with the experience, ability and temperament to be a very rewarding partner for the right rider.
Sid is a talented, athletic gelding with a quality foundation across all three phases. He is bold and brave cross country, careful in the showjumping and established on the flat, making him an exciting option for a capable rider wanting a genuine eventing partner to continue producing and enjoying up the grades.
Quiet, well-mannered and easy to manage, Sid combines performance experience with day-to-day practicality. He would best suit a committed junior, young rider or amateur who is riding under regular professional instruction and wants an experienced, educated and talented horse with plenty to offer.
Education, skills and experience: Sid has competed up to 2* eventing and brings valuable competition mileage and education to his next home. He has competed successfully at 95cm, 1* and 2* level. Sid was also nominated as QLD 1* Horse of the Year 2023 and Junior 1* Rider and Horse Combination of the Year 2023.
He is training to 1.10m and elementary dressage, with laterals and flying changes established. He has previously been professionally trained on the flat and is described as a horse who does a lovely dressage test, scoring well.
Sid is a clean, careful jumper with plenty of scope. He is ridden in a snaffle and presents as a quality, versatile performance type with the flatwork, jump and cross-country experience to be genuinely useful in a capable eventing home.
General demeanour under saddle: Willing, responsive and soft in the bridle, Sid is a genuine and enjoyable ride for the right person. He tolerates rider mistakes, puts in the effort asked and does not require long warm-ups, making him a practical and appealing horse to campaign.
Sid is bold and brave cross country, while also being careful in the showjumping phase. For this reason, he benefits from an accurate, capable rider who can support him confidently around a course and bring out his best work, particularly in the showjumping.
He is generally non-reactive unless something significant happens and has no buck or rear. In the right hands, Sid offers plenty of quality, rideability and enjoyment.
Current workload / fitness: Sid is currently in work and ridden three or more times per week. He is currently competing.
Handling: Sid has lovely ground manners and is described as a perfect gentleman to handle. He is unflappable and calm to manage day-to-day, making him a very pleasant horse to have in the stable and at outings.
He is easy to catch, tie, wash and handle, and is reliable for the farrier and vet. He self-loads and travels quietly, unloading calmly at outings. He is comfortable in busy environments, including city stables and farm settings, and presents as a well-exposed, sensible and practical horse to manage.
Feeding and management: Sid is on a standard hard feed and is shod. He can live happily in a herd, paddocked alone, or completely on his own, and is content stabled 12/12 or 24/7 as required. Vaccinations are up to date, including Tetanus, Strangles and Hendra.
Medical history: No known current or past medical issues have been declared. Sid is given preventative supplements. Past x-rays and vet checks are available. Buyers are welcome to arrange a new vet check at their expense.
Rider Suitability: Sid is best suited to a capable, accurate rider who is under regular professional instruction and looking to continue up the levels. He would suit a committed junior, young rider or amateur with coaching who wants an experienced, educated and scopey performance horse with genuine eventing mileage.
Sid would particularly suit a rider who enjoys eventing and wants a horse with a proven record, established education and the ability to be competitive with correct, confident riding. Given his quality flatwork, snaffle mouth and elementary dressage education, he may also appeal to a dressage-focused home wanting a rideable, well-trained gelding with a strong foundation.
