Regal Dove

Introduction: Regal Dove, known as Charlie, is a fun, competitive and proven Welsh x gelding with genuine eventing mileage and an impressive interschool record. He is a QLD State Interschool Champion who has also competed successfully at National Interschool level. Charlie is an established and enjoyable competition pony for a keen and capable junior, young rider or amateur rider wanting a genuine and talented partner.

Education, skills and experience: Charlie has competed to EVA95 with proven results and previous Interschool Championship success, including State Champion honours and successful competition at National Interschool level. He scores well on the flat, with low-20s dressage scores recorded, and is schooling 1.05m at home. He has established laterals, is bold and genuine across country and has also placed in 95cm Combined Training with previous junior riders/owners. He is currently in full work and competing.

General demeanour under saddle: Charlie warms into his work and is willing, responsive and respectful of the aids. He gives his rider a fun, capable and competitive feel, and will put in the effort asked of him. Charlie loves people and his job - and he is fabulous at it!

Current workload / fitness: Charlie is currently in work 5+ times per week and competing. He does not require very regular riding to remain reliable.

Handling: Charlie is exceptionally easy on the ground — unflappable, kind and straightforward to manage. He is easy to catch, leads and ties calmly, self-loads and travels quietly in an angle or straight load, is easy to wash, reliable for the farrier and vet and tolerant of handler mistakes. He can be friendly in an “in your face” way.

Feeding and management: Charlie is shod. He can live happily in a herd or alone. Like any performance pony type, he can get hot if overfed and underworked.

Medical history: No past or present medical issues. Charlie is vaccinated for Tetanus and Strangles. X-rays are available by request. Vet checks are welcome at the potential buyer’s expense.

Rider suitability: Charlie is best suited to a confident, capable and balanced rider under regular professional instruction. He would be a very appealing option for a competitive junior or young rider wanting an established pony with significant interschool experience, eventing mileage and proven results, or an amateur rider wanting a fun, experienced and versatile competition partner. He is not suited to beginners or unbalanced riders.

Reason for sale: Charlie was sold to an adult rider and unfortunately does not suit her. In the right capable, confident and balanced home, however, Charlie has the education, record and personality to be a fantastic, fun and competitive partner.
