Introduction: Prince, affectionately known as ‘Shrimp’, is a 9-year-old, 14.1hh Australian Stock Horse x gelding with presence, athletic ability and a huge heart. He is a forward, talented pony who thrives with a confident rider and excels in competitive environments, particularly showjumping and cross country.
Prince is not a beginner’s mount, but for the right rider he offers exceptional scope, versatility and a genuine desire to please.
Breeding and Type: Prince is an unregistered ASH x. He is a compact, athletic type with strong feet, excellent endurance and the stamina to work all day—whether competing, mustering or out on long trail rides.
Education and Training: Prince has been produced by his current owner over the past three years and sits between a basic and established level of education. He has been extensively exposed to a wide range of environments and experiences, including:
Pony Club rally days
Showjumping and training days
Cross country schooling
Working cattle properties and mustering
Beach rides, trails and road work
Under saddle, Prince offers three balanced paces. While he is still developing consistency in his contact, he is beginning to show self-carriage and easily picks up correct leads, including simple changes.
Performance and Competition Record: Prince is a very capable and scopey jumper, currently competing comfortably at 85–95cm, with previous competition experience up to 1.05m and training up to 1.20m at home.
Results include:
2025 Jacaranda Show – 3rd place 80cm
2025 Lismore Show – 2nd place 60cm, 2nd place 75cm
2024 Jacaranda Show – 3rd place 1.05m
2024 Lismore Show – 2nd place 60cm, 2nd place 75cm, 5th place 90cm
Valley & Rivers 2024 – 3rd place 80cm, 4th place 90cm
He absolutely adores cross country and has also been recommended by endurance riders as a potential endurance mount due to his stamina and work ethic.
Temperament & Rideability: Prince is forward, willing and responsive, with a curious and friendly nature. He puts in as much effort as asked and learns quickly.
With a confident rider, Prince is settled, focused and brave. With a tense or nervous rider, he can become a bit looky or spooky, hot or tense, heavy or fussy in the contact.
Importantly, Prince does not buck, bolt, rear or pigroot. Any spook or shy is manageable and confidence-related, rather than malicious.
Rider Suitability: Prince is best suited to an intermediate to advanced rider, or a confident child under regular professional instruction.
Handling and behaviour: Prince is a pleasure to manage. He is easy to catch, well mannered and friendly on the ground, good to float, travel, tie up and trim, reliable for the farrier and vet, and he is easy to wash. He can be wary of being sprayed, but settles quickly with reassurance.
Gear & Tack: Prince has previously been ridden happily in a snaffle; however, under coaching advice he now competes in a universal bit, which he goes well in. He is usually ridden in a compression hood when competing.
Health: Prince is barefoot with excellent, strong hooves and is an easy doer. He is completely sound and up to date with all routine care. He does not have any issues that affect his performance or soundness.
Feeding: Prince is an easy keeper and currently receives one biscuit of hay in the morning and a small handful of chaff and pellets at night for electrolytes.
Management: Prince can be kept in a herd or alone but with a companion in sight. Like most horses, he may take a little time to settle into a new environment.
Reason for Sale: Prince was originally purchased as a project horse. His rider has now outgrown him physically and is seeking a bigger horse to progress up the heights.
Ideal Home: Prince would thrive in a knowledgeable, intermediate to experienced home where his talent is nurtured. He loves to compete, jump and explore, but is equally happy heading out on trails, going to the beach or mustering.
Most importantly, he is looking for a home where he will be understood, supported and loved.
