People often ask why we sell the lower-priced horses.
The honest answer? Because everyone deserves access to a horse sale process built on care, honesty and transparency — not just people shopping at the top end of the market.
And regardless of whether someone’s budget is $5k or $500k — it’s still a significant amount of money to that buyer, because it’s often the maximum they can comfortably afford to spend.
When we started Performance Horse Sales, people assumed success would come from selling expensive horses with big names and big results.
That was never our goal.
We wanted to prove that regardless of the horse — pony club mounts, pleasure horses, young prospects, schoolmasters or high-performance horses — we could help facilitate ethical sales to the right long-term homes.
Every horse matters to us.
Every client matters to us.
And every successful match matters to us.
Over 350+ sales later, we’ve had only three issues.
One seller misrepresented a horse. We stepped in and required the horse to be returned.
One buyer purchased sight unseen for a junior rider against our advice and wasn’t fully honest about the rider’s confidence and ability. The horse was accurately described — it simply wasn’t the right match.
Another buyer later admitted the horse was exactly as described — they had overestimated their own time, confidence and goals. We helped them resell.
