Introduction: Vanishing Point (Roy) is a tall, eye-catching Thoroughbred allrounder with established flatwork and extensive experience across a variety of activities.
Roy has been owned and enjoyed by the same amateur rider for the last six years and he has proven to be a trainable and kind horse. He offers a versatile combination of education and experience for a capable rider looking for a quality partner to enjoy dressage, jumping, Pony Club, Adult Riders, trail riding and farm riding.
Education, skills and experience: Roy is well established on the flat, working lightly and softly in the bridle and willingly collecting.
He has competed with wins and placings and is currently training to approximately 90cm in showjumping and cross country, having previously schooled to 1.00m in showjumping and around 65–80cm in cross country.
Roy's experience extends well beyond the competition arena. He has been ridden bareback, lunged and used to lead other horses. He is accustomed to farm life, including livestock, tractors, trucks, motorbikes and dogs, and has also enjoyed swimming in dams and rivers.
General demeanour under saddle: Under saddle, Roy is described as willing and responsive, putting in the effort asked of him while remaining light in the contact. He can, on occasionally be reluctant to leave other horses by moves forward once corrected. Please see Owner Response Document for more information. This behaviour highlights the importance of a confident rider who can provide clear, consistent direction.
Current workload / fitness: Roy is currently competing and in regular work, ridden three or more times per week. He is reliable after a spell and can be ridden again without requiring extensive preparation.
Handling: On the ground, Roy is easy to catch, leads politely, ties up quietly and is straightforward to wash and handle for the vet and farrier. He self-loads, travels quietly, stands calmly in the float or truck and unloads sensibly. He is currently shod.
Feeding and management: Roy is currently maintained on ad-lib oaten hay and grass. He is adaptable to a variety of management arrangements, including living in a herd, paddocked on his own, kept completely alone on a property or managed on a 12-hour stable and 12-hour paddock routine.
Medical history: Roy does not have any past or present medical issues. His last dental was completed in January 2026. Pre-purchase veterinary examinations are welcome at the buyer's expense.
Rider Suitability: Roy is best suited to a capable, confident rider looking for a versatile horse to enjoy flatwork, jumping and recreational riding. He offers a lovely combination of established education, competition experience and exposure to a variety of environments.
Given his occasional reluctance to leave other horses, he requires a rider who is confident and capable of providing clear direction.
Reason for sale: Roy was purchased with the intention of competing but his owner lacks time and is reluctantly offering him for sale to a lovely new home.
