Introduction: Lucky is a purebred Heritage Stock Horse by Bluff Downs Jake out of Hamilton Park Sprinkle. He is a stock horse through and through - willing, tough, loyal and intelligent.
Lucky has had an amazing life so far. He was donated, as a young horse, to raise money for the Victorian Black Saturday Bushfire victims and he has brought luck and good fortune to everyone he meets.
Lucky has been the ultimate allrounder for his owners and has many more years left to teach and inspire another rider. One lucky new owner is going to become part of the legend that is Stockhaven Lucky Star!
Education, skills and experience: Lucky is a ‘ribbon machine’ winning or placing wherever he goes. He has competed up to National level with success.
Lucky has been there, done that and won the rug. He has oodles of experience eventing, combined training, dressage, showing, team penning, and everything in between. Lucky has even taken part in Outback Spectacular style demonstrations at Equitana (see photos).
Lucky’s current owner competes him in preliminary dressage, he is light in the bridle and automatically ‘collects’. His owner’s daughter has jumped him up to 80cm with scope to go higher. He is point and shoot, tolerant, kind and honest.
Lucky is super safe to ride out, down roads and across open paddocks. He is ridden bareback, with others, on his own and loves mustering.
General demeanor under saddle: Lucky is willing and responsive under saddle. He has a snaffle mouth and is light in the bridle. Lucky is balanced, reliable and fun to ride. He is tolerant and respectful. Lucky can be ridden and competed anywhere without issues. He is used to agricultural shows, busy environments and is unphased by farm life, trucks, tractors and fireworks.
Current workload/ fitness: Lucky is currently in work and competing.
Handling: Lucky is safe and easy to handle in all ways - to catch, shoe, wash, saddle and load, travel and unload in an angle load float.
Behaviour: Lucky is affectionate and is an absolute pleasure to have around. He does not have any quirks or vices under saddle. Lucky does not need to be ridden regularly and is safe after a spell.
Lucky does, however, need to travel in an angle load float. He has been like this since he was a young horse, according to his owners. There has never been an incident, it’s just what he prefers.
Feeding and general management: Lucky lives in a grassy paddock with access to a shelter - he loves his creature comforts and may sulk in the rain. He is supplemented with hard feed and hay. Lucky’s behaviour is not affected by feed.
Medical history: Lucky does not have any medical issues and is in great health. He was not vetted when purchased and given age, will most likely have changes on xrays. Lucky does need consistent light riding (2–3 days a week) to keep him in top shape, although he is safe if ridden less.
Rider Suitability: Lucky would suit a confident, firm novice to intermediate rider - 14 years and older - with a stable seat and steady hands. Lucky is responsive, educated and willing, he is not a beginner or novice plodder or ‘first horse’. He is more forward when jumping and would suit an intermediate rider in this discipline.
Lucky thrives on variety and loves mixing arena work with trail adventures. He’s not the horse to be cooped up in the arena every day.
Lucky is a gorgeous, stress free mount who will give you many years of love and enjoyment.
Reason for sale: Lucky is very reluctantly for sale because his owner’s circumstances have changed and she no longer has time to ride.
Lucky’s owner says: We are absolutely devastated to put Lucky on the market but we know he had a huge amount to offer another rider and would be wasted being ridden once a week. Lucky is a celebrity and will only go to the LUCKIEST and MOST FABULOUS home!
