Introduction: Letty is a fabulous 8 year old, 14.3hh registered first cross Australian Stock Horse mare. She is by the great sire Bonlac Gigolo out of a brumby mare. Letty represents the best of her breed - she is responsive and intelligent; athletic, agile and hardworking; she is suitable for various disciplines.
Breeding: Letty’s sire, Bonlac Gigolo, stud fee is currently $7700. He offers campdraft and challenge breeders the opportunity to access a rare cross of three extremely well performed campdraft bloodlines. Abbey, Star Black Minstrel and Romeo represent the blue ribbon genetics of the campdraft industry and in Gigolo they have combined to produce an outstanding individual with looks and ability. His performance record and his progeny performances indicate that he will continue on as the next generation of highly sought breeding genetics.
Education, skills and experience: Letty was purchased as a fun, project horse for a 15 year old who loves her and really enjoys riding her.
Letty has competed at agricultural shows, been to pony club, and attended off property lessons. She has jumped up to 70cm in training and competed up to 60cm. Letty has a solid basic flat work education - computing in rider classes, pony club mount and led classes. She has placed or won in all disciplines and even been sashed Champion!
Letty loves routine and regular workload. She is very smart, athletic and willing to learn.
General demeanor under saddle: Letty is described as willing, responsive and only requires subtle aides. She is athletic, has spunk and can turn on a dime. Letty is soft and 'light' in the bridle and willingly 'collects'. She relaxes quickly once the ‘pressure’ is off.
Current workload/ fitness: Letty is currently in work.
Handling: Letty is safe and easy to handle - to catch, shoe, wash, saddle and load. She self loads or loads into float/ truck very easily, stands quietly when traveling, and unloads calmly. She did pull back and fuss about loading, when she was first purchased, but this has now been resolved and is only being declared for full disclosure.
Behaviour: Letty is affectionate and is an absolute pleasure to have around. She is the first to meet you at the gate. Letty has a great work ethic and is happiest when consistently being ridden.
Letty does pigroot/ bounce with enthusiasm at times. We do not believe that it is malicious as she stops if the rider is unbalanced, see video in portfolio. Please note that the rider’s mother is a vet and pain has been ruled out, as a reason for the pigrooting, and it is not feed related, she lives on grass only.
Feeding and management: Letty is on grass only, no additional feed.
Medical history: Letty does not have any medical issues. Vet checks are welcome at potential buyers expense.
Rider Suitability: A capable and confident experienced rider defined as someone who has a lifetime of experience producing and competing both young and educated horses. Unfazed by any nonsense and has the ability and experience to ride green horses.
Ideal home: An experienced home with a rider who wants a horse that has limitless energy and is extremely brave. A horse that will work all day, trail ride in rough country, has great feet and is an easy keeper.
Reason for sale: Unfortunately, as much as her 15 year old rider loves her and isn’t worried about the pigrooting, the rider’s parents do not consider the mare suitable as a fun, reliable, no fuss mount.
