Introduction: Kim is a fabulous experienced allrounder, confidence builder and showjumper. She has been produced by her current rider/ owner, since coming off the track in 2021. She has the experience to teach a young rider or amateur. Kim was never going to be sold but with her rider moving on to 115 plus tracks and more advanced horses, commitments Kim is very reluctantly on the market to an approved home.
Education, skills and experience:
Kim’s owner has brought her on, slowly and correctly. She is currently competing and placing in EVA65 eventing and up to 90cm showjumping.
Dressage/ Showing
Kim has a good basic flatwork education. She consistently produces calm and accurate tests and is an experienced mount for low level showing. Kim willingly collects, is balanced, light and soft to ride.
Showjumping
Kim is responsive and adjustable, her rider is a bit of a speed demon and Kim is very competitive against the clock. She is, however, happy to step back a level and go slower and she happily walks out of the ring on a loose rein. Kim is brave and has not been phased by jump fill, planks, etc. She has successfully competed and placed up to 90cm.
Cross Country
On cross country, Kim is super calm in the start box and bold and honest across the course. She absolutely loves jumping, and is a ‘point and shoot’ cross country horse. Kim is very clever and quick with her feet, will jump nearly anything off any angle and any stride. She can always be trusted to bring her rider home safely.
General demeanor under saddle:
Kim is a wonderful example of the modern thoroughbred performance horse being compact, athletic and refined. Her paces display elasticity and activity suitable to progress up the levels.
Kim is a willing and responsive mare who is honest and aims to please. She is generally quiet but not completely unflappable to ride. Kim can occasionally have a look at something but she doesn’t spook. Kim doesn’t require lunging or an extensive warm up; she is safe and exactly the same to ride, even after a break. Kim is ridden in all phases, in a double jointed snaffle.
Kim is easy and trustworthy to ride in all situations, compete, take off the property, and she works well in a group or on her own. She has been exposed to life on the farm and not much phases her, she has been fine with cows, mini ponies, quad bikes, motorbikes, golf carts and dogs.
Current workload/ fitness: Kim is in work 3 to 4 days a week. Due to recent bad weather, and lack of time, Kim hasn’t been to many recent competitions, however she has been attending jump club and pony club.
Handling and general behaviour: Kim LOVES people! She is safe and easy to manage - easy to catch and handle - lead, rug, tack up, wash, shoe, clip, float/ truck etc. Kim stays happily tied to the truck all day at shows. She is easily kept in a herd, enjoys being in the paddock full time but is also happy to be stabled. Kim is not ‘marey’ and does not have any vices.
Feeding and management: Kim loves her food and is hard fed Easiresponse and hay as needed. She isn’t affected by food.
Medical history: Kim is sound and doesn’t have any medical issues. She has a crack/ scar on one hoof that has never affected her. Vet checks are welcome at the potential buyers expense. Kim does wear a nose net on her bridle as certain weather can sometimes cause her to flick her head. The nose net prevents this and it has not been an issue during competition. She does not require the nose net in the paddock.
Rider Suitability: Intermediate Rider defined as someone who has been riding / competing regularly for at least three years, has independent hands and balanced position/ seat; can walk, trot and canter on their own horse. The rider is confident if the horse is reasonably well behaved. Prefers a schoolmaster type without any major quirks.
Reason for sale: Kim’s rider has stepped up a level and is jumping 115 plus and, having moved onto more advanced performance horses, Kim is being wasted in the paddock. We are looking for a home with a young rider looking for an ultimate allrounder or an amateur adult rider wanting to compete. This is a very difficult sale of a much loved mare.
