Introduction: Clair an absolute dream to ride, handle and compete. Clair was carefully produced to 1* eventing and 110 showjumping before going on to be a prolific ribbon winner on the interschool scene with her current rider. She has excelled and progressed beautifully in the role! Clair is reliable, safe, sound and sane - everything you want in a junior’s schoolmaster.
Bloodlines: Clair was undoubtedly exceptionally well bred, being sired by Wimborne Constable.
Offspring: Clair has successfully been bred via ET to Balou Du Rouet - the youngster being retained and broken in by her previous owner with the aim of compete in eventing and showjumping.
Conformation: Clair is a wonderful example of the modern performance horse - compact, athletic and refined. Her paces display elasticity, power and activity.
Education, riding and experience: Clair is well established on the flat and she is a has beautiful movement. She competed to medium level with her previous owner - with flying changes, canter pirouettes, half pass all established. She also began the piaffe/passage work which she is picking up super quickly. She is suitable to be a straight dressage horse or a combined training super star. This training also makes her rideable, adjustable and competitive on course!
Clair has competed up to 110 level and trained 140 with her current and previous owners. She is competitive, quick and rideable around the course. Clair is the quintessential ‘careful’ horse that will do anything to keep the rails up but can be a bit intolerant of being given a bad distance and may stop occasionally when she is competing in straight showjumping for weeks on end. When given a variety of work and not on the road constantly, Clair is much more tolerant.
Clair was a fabulous eventer and very competent to 1* level but didn’t like the drop into water at this level. She is very brave to EVA95.
Clair is dream to take out, no silliness in the warmup and stands and waits her turn. She enjoys her job and a variety of work. Clair is willing and forward to ride which gives a lovely feel.
Clair is always 100% safe with absolutely no dirt. She loves a trail ride or ride around the farm. Clair is currently in work.
Handling: Clair is patient and well mannered on the ground to rug, wash, shoe etc. She is great for the farrier and to clip. Clair is very easy to load, travel and unload - in either a float or truck. She loves cuddles and affection.
Behaviour: Clair has traveled all over the countryside. She travels well - loads and unloads without fuss and eats and drinks well when away from home.
Clair is sensible and reliable and to ride and handle. She does not have any vices under-saddle or on the ground. She is a bit sensitive under the belly to brush and prefers being tied in cross ties but is fine when tied normally.
Feeding and management: Clair is fed a simple diet and is unaffected by feed. Clair is happy to be stabled at competitions and prefers being paddocked on her own but must have a companion in sight and she likes being in the thick of the action - she is a sticky beak!
Medical history: Clair does not have any past or present medical issues.
Rider Suitability: Clair would suit a competitive junior or adult rider who is looking for a straightforward and competitive horse to show jump to 110-120, event to EVA95 and/ or compete in dressage, interschools or combined training.
Reason for sale: Clair is very sadly for sale due to her owner needing a horse that is happy to be on the road, competing for weeks on end. Clair is sound, fit and ready to compete.
