Introduction: Uka is a fabulous 2* eventer. He was produced to 2* with an exceptional rider before being purchased by his current owner. Uka is under professional guidance of Tinney Eventing. He has the talent and youth to progress up the star levels. He is only for sale due to his owner’s workload being incompatible with competing at the higher levels. Uka is a very well-behaved horse when competing.
Education, skills, and experience: Uka is currently in work and schooling 1* cross country. He is jumping 105-110 at home and at jump club but can certainly jump higher. Uka is training at elementary level dressage.
Dressage: Uka is well established in dressage with three even paces. He has a comprehensive dressage education and he willingly collects. Uka has all laterals established, including half pass and flying changes. In dressage, Uka is always a standout, consistently scoring high 60s to 70% at competitions.
Showjumping: Uka is responsive and adjustable, competitive against the clock. He is brave, rather than careful, around the course and never stops!
Cross Country: In cross country, Uka is calm in the start box and bold and honest across the course. He has never had a cross country jumping fault. Uka is very clever and quick with his feet, will jump nearly anything off any angle and any stride. He loves jumping so can get strong but this is managed using a Dutch Gag. Uka can always be trusted to make combinations easy and bring his rider home safely.
General demeanor under saddle:
When in full time work Uka is a willing and responsive gelding. For a capable rider, he is straightforward to compete, take off the property, and he works well in a group or on his own. In work, Uka is generally very quiet but not completely unflappable to ride. He can spook. When in work, he is ridden on the flat in a snaffle and jumped in a dutch gag.
After a spell, Uka needs to be lunged for a few days prior to riding. He is very easy to lunge.
If not in regular work, or coming back into work, Uka has been known to throw in the kick up which has not unseated his owner but is being declared for the purposes of full disclosure. When not in full time work, Uka is worked in a dutch gag and standing martingale as he flicks his head when fresh.
Current workload/ fitness: Uka is in work 4 to 5 days a week with Tinney Eventing.
Handling and general behaviour: Uka is straightforward to manage - easy to catch and handle - lead, rug, tack up, wash, shoe, clip, float/ truck etc.
Feeding and management: Uka loves his food. He is currently in a paddock on his own, with other horses in sight. Uka does not enjoy being stabled full time unless he is at an event. He is fed half a dipper of CopRice cool conditioner pellets and given grassy hay.
Medical history: Uka does not have any medical issues. He had colic surgery 7 years ago but has not had any issues since. He is given pentosan, as a preventative only, once a month.
Rider Suitability: An intermediate rider wanting a confident horse to take them up the levels. Uka is a talented 2* horse who is ridden well by his current rider of four years. He is not, however, a straightforward schoolmaster.
Reason for sale: Uka has been owned by his current rider for the last 4 years. Uka is adored by her and will only be sold to the most suitable home. He is only for sale due to his owner’s work commitments preventing regular riding and competing.
