Introduction: Lionstar/ Archie is an experienced show jumper and all-rounder who has competed in eventing to EVA95 level, dressage, hacking, and showjumping up to 1.10m. He has been a reliable and safe horse for his last junior rider, including his current 15 year old owner, who has been riding him for the last two and a half years. Archie is ideal for a rider seeking a no-fuss, kind and competitive horse for a variety of disciplines.
Bloodlines: Archie is by Purrealist out of Dawndane.
Education, skills and experience: Archie is a brave, willing and reliable horse. On the flat, he is well educated and collects willingly. Archie is well established at elementary level with automatic flying changes, laterals, travers, and pirouette. He is very fun on the flat - a pleasure to ride.
Archie is a ‘been there, done that’ experienced showjumper who has taken his rider to 1.10m. He has scope, is adjustable and responsive. Archie is honest and brave - he willingly jumps anything from planks to brick walls and water. He has more wins and places at shows than you could count!
When eventing and showjumping, Archie always aims to please and is tolerant of a ‘miss’ and a rider who lacks the perfect eye for a distance. He has competed extensively at EVA95 level, including placing 2nd at Equimillions 2025. Archie has had multiple 1* starts with his previous rider.
Archie is also a fabulous allrounder and pony club horse.
General demeanor under saddle: Archie is a lovely horse to have around and is always ridden and handled by his teenage rider. He has a fun, eager to please personality and always tries his best. Archie is a ‘parent’s dream horse’ with his willing nature and heart of gold. He is brave, does not spook and is not worried by farm life, trucks, tractors, mowers, cattle and dogs.
Archie can get a little excited before jumping and may stomp his feet, he relaxes if ridden calmly at a walk. On cross country, Archie can get forward and a bit heavy in the hand. He is ridden in a snaffle on the flat and a gag for showjumping and cross country, which addresses this.
Current workload/ fitness: Archie is ridden 3 times a week and is currently competing.
Handling and general behaviour: Archie is easy to catch, saddle, groom, wash, travel (load, float, unload), shoe, and handle for dental care. Archie is a fuss free bloke who takes everything in his stride.
Feeding and management: Archie can be kept in a herd situation or on his own without other horses in sight. He is currently fed a simple diet of pellets, chaff and hay.
Medical history: Archie was a complete failure as a racehorse, however, this means that he didn’t sustain any wear and tear while racing or develop any racehorse habits. He doesn’t have any medical issues.
Rider Suitability: Archie has a heart of gold and will continue to thrive with someone who is a confident and balanced novice to intermediate rider and appreciates his brave, fun nature and versatility.
Reason for sale: Archie is very reluctantly for sale as he is a much-loved family horse. He is only for sale as his rider is moving up the showjumping levels and a careful 120 showjumper is being purchased. Archie is too talented and special to sit in the paddock. He is only for sale to the best of homes.
