Introduction:
Palazzio, known as Larzi, is a 14-year-old bay gelding by Haradasun out of Dubai Dream, standing approximately 16.2hh. He has been in the same family for the past ten years and has enjoyed a diverse life, from trackwork and race day riding during his racing career through to showjumping, eventing, lessons, ladies days, trail riding and beach rides. He is a genuine, versatile gelding with a kind nature.
Education, skills and experience:
Larzi is a well-educated gelding with exceptional temperament and broad experience. He has won and placed in showjumping from 70cm to 90cm, has jumped higher, and has proven very reliable cross country at 80cm, always jumping clear. He has schooled single fences to EVA95/1* level and can produce a very respectable dressage test. He is also experienced in trail riding, beach rides, and leading other horses, and is sensible around livestock, dogs, children nearby, machinery, busy roads, fireworks and general farm life.
General demeanour under saddle:
Under saddle, Larzi is willing, responsive, tolerant of rider mistakes and non-reactive. He puts in as much effort as required and is especially honest to a fence, happily taking a long spot or chipping in to help his rider out. He is ridden in a snaffle and, while he can feel a little heavy in the bridle, he is very straightforward, genuine, and forgiving ride.
Current workload / fitness:
Larzi is currently in light work and being ridden one to two times per week. He is still competing and does not require regular riding to remain reliable and safe, and he is considered safe to hop straight on after a spell.
Handling:
Larzi is calm, unflappable and easy to manage. He is easy to catch, well mannered on the ground, leads quietly, ties up calmly, self-loads, travels well and unloads quietly. He is easy to wash, good for the farrier and vet, and tolerant of handler mistakes.
Behaviour:
Larzi has no vices or quirks and is reliable both in and out of work. He is a sensible, steady horse who takes varied environments and activities in his stride.
Feeding and management:
Larzi is easy to feed and manage, and is currently fed once daily on Cool, Calm and Collected pellets with chaff. He can be kept in a herd, on his own in a paddock, or without other horses on the property, and is also comfortable being stabled for 12 hours and paddocked for 12 hours.
Medical history:
Larzi has no current medical issues and does not require supplements or prescription medication. He is up to date with dental and vaccinations, and he is currently shod. A vet check is welcome at the buyer’s expense.
Rider Suitability:
Larzi is best suited to an intermediate rider and would suit a junior rider, young rider or amateur adult.
Reason for sale:
Larzi is offered for sale due to a genuine change in circumstances, with one owner now retired from riding and the current rider having young horses coming through. He is a lovely option for someone wanting a safe, experienced and versatile horse they can simply get on and enjoy. He is too nice a horse to be left in the paddock.
