Introduction:
Cranellie Rupert is a quality, child-friendly Welsh A gelding with proven results at Royal and Championship level. Registered SHC, Welsh and Saddle Pony, Rupert combines true show-ring presence with a kind, uncomplicated way of going.
He presents as a very attractive opportunity for a family wanting an educated, rideable and beautifully produced small pony with form on the board. With his manners, education and genuine temperament, Rupert is well suited to a child or junior wanting to step into the show ring with confidence and enjoy a pony who knows his job.
Education, skills and experience:
Rupert is extremely well educated across showing and dressage, with comprehensive exposure to pony club activities and trail riding.
He has enjoyed success in led, ridden and hunter classes, including newcomer and first ridden divisions, and has qualified for the Welsh Nationals for the past two years.
Rupert’s flatwork reflects his education. He works softly in the bridle, naturally collects and is willing without being sharp.
General demeanour under saddle:
Rupert is described as very straightforward — a genuine “point and ride” type who is willing, responsive and light in the contact.
He adapts to the rider’s level, is tolerant of mistakes, and remains non-reactive and unflappable. This makes him suitable for beginners, while still offering the quality, presence and education to be enjoyed by a more experienced child or amateur.
Current workload / fitness:
Rupert is currently in light work and ridden one to two times per week.
Handling:
On the ground, Rupert is unflappable, safe and easy to manage. He is easy to catch, leads and ties calmly, self-loads and travels quietly, is good to clip and wash, reliable for the farrier and vet, and is tolerant of handler mistakes.
Feeding and management:
Rupert is an easy doer. He is on very minimal hard feed when in full show preparation and otherwise maintains well on grass. He can live in a herd, on his own, or stabled 12 hours and paddocked 12 hours. He is currently barefoot.
Medical history:
Rupert does not have any past or present medical issues. He is up to date with vaccination and dental. Vet checks are welcome at the buyer’s expense.
Rider Suitability:
Rupert suits a beginner rider through to a capable junior or very petite adult wanting an honest, educated partner for showing, dressage fundamentals and pony club or adult rider activities.
With results at major shows and a calm, adaptable temperament, Cranellie Rupert is an ideal family pony for a young rider to learn on, compete and enjoy.
Reason for sale:
Rupert is ready for his next little rider to continue on in the discipline of their choice. He is a much-loved family member who deserves a child to love him as much as his current family does.
