Introduction:

Blackwood Bo Peep is a proven 13.2hh performance pony with an outstanding showjumping record and the sort of competition experience that points clearly to a competitive Interschool and Pony Club home. Bo Peep brings the scope, technique, speed and know-how to be in the placings, with an impressive background across showjumping, eventing, games and pony racing. She is a genuine, results-producing pony for a capable junior who wants to get out, compete safely and be competitive.

Education, skills and experience:

Blackwood Bo Peep is EA and ARP registered and has been produced and campaigned by a junior rider. She has showjumped to 1.05m with notable results, placed and won at National-level Interschool and Pony Club competitions, and won the overall 95cm series at the Victorian State Titles, along with Best Jumping Pony. 

Bo Peep has evented EV80 with placings and double clears, excels as a games pony with State-level titles in 2026, and has pony racing form including 2nd at Moonee Valley and qualification for the Australian final at the Gold Coast. She has also been out extensively to the beach, bush and road riding, and is very well travelled.

General demeanour under saddle:

Under saddle, Blackwood Bo Peep is forward moving, willing and responsive, and adapts to her rider. She is tolerant of rider mistakes and is generally calm and reliable, while still being a sharp, competitive ride suited to a capable junior. She is described as safe and genuine, and is recommended for a rider under regular professional instruction who can make the most of her education and jumping ability.

Current workload / fitness:

Blackwood Bo Peep is currently in light work and ridden one to two times per week. She does not need regular riding to remain reliable and safe, and is fine to hop straight on after a spell.

Handling:

On the ground, Blackwood Bo Peep is safe, well mannered and easy to manage. She leads calmly and willingly, is easy to clip and wash, reliable for the farrier and vet, and travels well. She can be tricky to catch at times but bribery works wonders! Like any pony, she may occasionally kick out at other horses, if they invade her personal space and are super annoying.

Feeding and management:

Blackwood Bo Peep is a great doer and is currently living on grass, with feed increased when her workload increases. She can be kept in a herd or in a paddock on her own, can be stabled 12 hours and paddocked 12 hours, and is comfortable with a companion in sight. She is barefoot with excellent feet and has previously been shod all round for jumping on grass, when studs were required.

Medical history:

Blackwood Bo Peep has no past or present medical issues. She is up to date with vaccinations and dental. Vet checks are welcome at the buyer’s expense, and no medical history has been noted.

Rider Suitability:

Blackwood Bo Peep is best suited to a competitive child rider or small teen - who wants to jump and be out regularly at Pony Club and Interschool competitions. With an intermediate-level rider under regular professional instruction, Bo Peep offers a quality, educated, schoolmaster-type partner with the competitiveness, record and experience to keep a junior in the results.
