Introduction: Teddy is an accomplished gelding who is established in the show ring, dressage, EVA45 eventing and Combined Training. He was broken in by his - then 11 year old - owner as a project and after four rewarding years he is ready for his next rider! Teddy is uncomplicated, unflappable, has delightful manners and a willing work ethic. He presents a wonderful opportunity for someone to purchase a safe, established and unspoilt young pony!
Education and experience: Teddy is the ultimate allrounder - with consistent results, rideability and the temperament to excel with his next rider. He consistently scores over 65% and up to 80% in preparatory and 75% in preliminary dressage. Teddy is soft and light in the bridle, willingly collects and has wonderful movement. He also has the looks, conformation and presence of a fabulous show pony!
Teddy loves jumping and he is honest both cross country and showjumping. He is brave, when jumped by a confident rider, and is tolerant of a miss - he says ‘hold my beer’ and ‘keeps on trucking’! Due to his age, Teddy is currently competing successfully at 45cm and training 65cm at home, with scope to go higher.
Teddy has attended pony club and he has been ridden bareback! He is happy and safe to ride around the farm, livestock and dogs. Teddy is relaxed on trail rides, on busy roads and at the beach. Once he has his first few snorts with glee (!) he is the same at competitions, as he is at home.
General demeanour under saddle: Teddy is responsive and willing performance pony. He is ridden in a snaffle and is light and easy to collect. Teddy is tolerant of rider mistakes, kind and straightforward to ride.
Handling: Teddy is very well manned on the ground. He is easy to catch, lead and handle - for farrier, picking out feet, grooming, clipping and washing. Teddy loads into float and truck willingly, stands quietly when travelling and unloads calmly. He is easy and calm to clip. Teddy doesn’t like having cream applied to his white nose but with pressure/ release he is puts up with it (the trials of being so cute and blingy!)
Behaviour: After a spell of 3-4 weeks, Teddy would benefit from a lunge (where he might have a play!) Once his rider hops on he may have a little crow hop - if excited - during the first ride back but then he is very settled. As he matures, this will likely reduce or disappear.
Teddy is 100% safe - he does not buck, pigroot, bolt or rear. He is very calm, quiet and reliable. Teddy is non-reactive unless something major happens but he is still safe even in that situation, he moves on calmly and straight away. He is a very calm and settled pony!
Current workload/ fitness: Teddy is in work 1-2 times a week. He does not need to be ridden regularly to be safe.
Feeding and management: Teddy currently lives on grass and a small hard feed - just so that he gets his vitamins and salt.
Medical history: Teddy is 100% sound and without issues, his owner welcomes any vet check, xrays, scans and blood tests. Teddy does have xrays and vet reports which are available for serious potential buyers - please see Owner’s Response Certificate for more information.
Rider Suitability: Teddy has been owned by his current rider for the last four years, since she was 11 years old, and she broke him in with professional assistance. He will adjust to his rider, doing as little or as much as he is asked. Teddy is willing, without being forward. He is straightforward enough to be ridden by confident, balanced novice riders, with a knowledgeable support system.
Ideal home: would be a junior rider or a small adult, who wants to enjoy and love a straightforward and well educated young pony. He is a delight and deserves to be spoiled and loved!
Reason for sale: Teddy’s rider has outgrown him and knows that he has so much to give and teach his next rider.
