Introduction: Elvis is a lovely young horse, bred by Haluma Welsh Cobs. He represents the best of his breed - he is responsive and intelligent; solid framed and hardworking; making him suitable for various disciplines. Elvis is very sadly for sale due to his owner’s lack of time.
Elvis is bred to excel at dressage, showing, jumping or as an allrounder - he has the bloodlines, conformation, scope and temperament to make it at the top level.
His sale presents an amazing opportunity for someone to take on such a lovely straight forward young horse who, at 7 years old, is already suitable for a capable amateur rider with professional support.
Bloodlines: Elvis was sired by Burrowa Moonlight Express a stallion with the most exceptional temperament, who has excelled in dressage and showing, and has progeny also excelling in this as well as eventing and showjumping. Elvis is out of Chapel House Gwyneth who has produced many talented youngsters and is herself a lovely mare. The success of his sire and siblings suggest that he would excel too!
Conformation: Elvis has been allowed to mature slowly and, as such, will be sound throughout his competition career. He is a ‘true type’ Welsh Cob with plenty of bone, just like his parents. Elvis’s conformation has enabled him to take to ‘life under saddle’ with willingness and acceptance.
Education, riding and experience: Elvis was broken in by his current owners, as he was so incredibly quiet and straightforward. He was then given two rides under saddle by Adam Sutton, to confirm his ‘forward’ button. Elvis has been beautifully well started and has an excellent foundation.
Elvis works softly and shows a natural ability and willingness to collect. He has been introduced to pony club - on the lead - and was unphased. Elvis was happy to be taken away from his paddock mates, travel off property and take part in jumping and pole work activities. Elvis has been ridden bareback and happily keeps a steady tempo when being ridden on a loose rein. He is quiet when ridden around the farm, down roads and for swims in the dam.
Current workload/ fitness: Elvis is currently in light work. He is safe to ride after and spell and doesn’t need regular work to be safe and sensible.
Handling: Elvis is unflappable, calm and well mannered to handle - catch, groom, saddle, wash, float and for the farrier. He loads and travels well.
Behaviour: Elvis is green but is completely vice free and sensible under saddle. He is a calm and lovely young horse who willingly accepts new challenges both in the saddle and on the ground.
Feeding and management: Elvis does not require any specific feeding or management. He is the bottom of the pecking order and can be kept in a herd or on his own.
Medical history: Elvis does not have any past or present medical issues and has not shown any lameness or pain during breaking and his early education, that would be suggestive of any issues. His owner welcomes any vet check.
Rider Suitability: Elvis requires a competent and capable rider due to his age, size and level of education. He is, however, sensible enough for a teenager or amateur to bring on under supervision.
Reason for sale: Elvis is for sale on behalf of his owner due to lack of time. As such he is priced for a quick and straightforward sale - at less than the cost of producing him to this point.
With Elvis’s intelligence, talent, and willingness to please, he is perfect for someone looking to bring on a lovely, uncomplicated young horse.
