Just Teddy is a stunning warmblood gelding who has been trained by professionals and ridden by amateurs to 120 showjumping and novice level dressage. He has proven himself to be a lovely unflappable performance horse in his current home of six years! He is an absolute pleasure in every way and is very reluctantly for sale due to his owner bringing on a younger horse.
Breeding and start: Teddy is by AEA Inspiration out of JPRs Just Perfect. He was bred by Faye and James Paterson-Robinson at Wondaree Stud. Teddy has always had the best of care and training with his two subsequent owners.
Conformation: Teddy is a classic example of a modern warmblood - he is built ‘uphill’ and is the picture of strength, balance and symmetry.
Education and experience: Teddy is the ultimate schoolmaster showjumping and dressage horse - sensible, kind and experienced. He knows and loves his job!
Teddy is a well performed horse, having previously competed to 120 level showjumping in the past and currently competing to 1m. He is a clean and capable jumper who makes a nice shape over a fence. He is safe and tolerant of rider mistakes.
Teddy is well educated on the flat and can produce a relaxed and accurate dressage test. He has straight movement and a good steady rhythm to his paces. His walk has a lovely over track. Teddy has basic lateral work, counter canter, some lengthening of stride, rein back, established walk to canter transitions and good transitions generally within and between paces.
Teddy also enjoys cross country schooling, trail riding and generally being a very good and reliable bloke!
General demeanour under saddle: Teddy is an intelligent horse who, when ridden correctly, is responsive and willing. If his rider is happy for him to cruise around on a loose rein, he is happy to do so.
Teddy is tolerant of rider mistakes and is straightforward enough for confident novice amateur or young riders to enjoy and compete. He is a kind and willing horse looking for his next rider to teach and enable to participate safely across disciplines. Teddy can be easily managed in all situations by one person and is low maintenance and an easy horse to look after and ride.
Current workload/ fitness: Teddy is currently in work. He is ready and willing to go out competing tomorrow. Teddy does not need to be ridden regularly to be safe. His behaviour is not affected by a spell.
Handling: Teddy is very well mannered on the ground. He is easy to catch, lead and handle - for farrier, picking out feet, grooming and washing. Teddy is easy and calm to load, travel and unload, He is easy and calm to clip.
Behaviour: Teddy has always been safe and very much ‘unflappable’ for his owner - he does not buck, pigroot, bolt or rear. He is very calm, quiet and reliable. Teddy is not worked in any special gear or in need of any gadgets.
Teddy is not concerned by farm life - tractors, large machinery, trucks, motorbikes, livestock, dogs or other pets. Teddy is the same at home, as he is at competitions, whether outdoors or indoors. He is relaxed on trail rides.
Feeding and management: Teddy is not fed any supplement or any medication. He is an easy doer.
Medical history: Teddy is 100% sound, fit and well. He has no medical issues, scars, lumps or bumps.
Rider Suitability: Capable Rider defined as someone who has been riding / competing regularly for at least five years, has independent hands and balanced position/ seat; can walk, trot and canter on multiple horses both young and educated. Is confident in all situations. Can handle some quirks in horses.
We specify this type of rider, not because Teddy has any issues, but because he is a relatively ‘big moving’ warmblood. He could be ridden by a confident novice with regular instruction.
Ideal home: A confident junior or adult rider who is looking for a fabulous - safe and reliable - dressage, show horse or showjumper schoolmaster. Teddy’s current owner of six years, and his previous owner, are both happy to chat to potential buyers.
Reason for sale: Teddy knows his job and has given his rider many years of pleasure and enjoyment. He has allowed her to join in and train safely on the flat and over fences. Teddy is reluctantly offered for sale as his rider now has a younger horse to go on with. He has many years left to teach another rider and is always welcome to come home.
